Who can have an Autoimmune Disease?
Hi, I’m Emma. 25 years ago I was diagnosed with a gluten intolerance. I was so ill at the time and had lost so much weight that I refused to carry on eating gluten to get the formal biopsy test. 12 years ago today I received blood test results and was told by a Doctor that I could start eating gluten again. This was a mistake as I hadn’t been on a diet containing gluten so my results would never have shown a problem. At the time I didn’t know better and I started eating gluten and all the yummy food I had been missing. This was such a mistake as years later I was in and out of hospitals whilst they tried to find out what was wrong with me.
Today I now have several autoimmune diseases and I control the symptoms and flares with my diet. I have a fantastic Doctor who supported my decision to come off my medications and change my diet.
Did you know that Autoimmune diseases can affect anyone, but certain people are at greater risk, including:
Women of childbearing age
People with a family history
People who are around certain things in the environment
People of certain races or ethnic backgrounds.
My health changed my world. Today I’m a Health Coach who helps others with autoimmune disease and gut health issues. Contact me today if you are interested in a FREE Health Consultation.
