Self Care & You
Self Care & You
It’s nearly Christmas Day, the end of the year, and you are probably running around thinking you aren’t going to get it all in before the big day! I know that’s how I feel with the presents to wrap, children to keep entertained, food to prepare, and house to decorate.
Stop. Where is my time for me? That precious downtime that we call self-care means I could feel human, stop rushing and be mindful and present for a moment.
If I stopped for 15 minutes and put a face mask on, sat and read a book for half an hour or danced around the house to some favourite tunes, then would the world stop turning? Would Christmas not happen?
We all need some downtime, and I find building the time into the day makes me more productive!
Self Care should be an integral part of our lives which can come in many forms. It can come in the form of simply asking for help. Perhaps the children could tidy a room, put their toys away, or empty a dishwasher. Maybe a friend could pick up the last-minute groceries, or you could help them. Do we both need to be at the shops? How can we make wrapping fun? How about making it faster! Can you wrap gifts with the family - make it like a production line?
Self-care can be spending time on you, but it can also be accepting that not all the jobs are solely your responsibility.
Take time for yourself this holiday. Enjoy every moment. Christmas will happen even if you spend ten minutes dancing around the house, so grab your favourite drink, put your favourite song on, turn the music up and let loose for ten minutes.
I hope you have enjoyed this information. Until next time!
